In 2025, SAERTEX multiCom GmbH conducted a comprehensive Double Materiality Assessment to identify the sustainability issues most important to the company and its stakeholders. The aim was to systematically assess both the impact of business activities on the environment and society and the financial opportunities and risks associated with sustainability. The analysis was based on the requirements of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and formed the basis for the strategic development of sustainability activities.
The analysis examined a total of 90 sustainability aspects along the entire value chain – from raw material procurement and production to product use and disposal. Concrete impacts, opportunities, or risks were identified for 50 of these aspects. These were analyzed in a multi-stage process with an interdisciplinary team and then discussed in 14 structured stakeholder dialogues with internal and external stakeholders. A total of over 700 responses were incorporated into the assessment.
The results showed that issues relating to the environment, social affairs, and governance were considered particularly important. These included energy consumption and energy-saving potential, water and soil protection, waste management, working conditions for the company's own employees, and aspects of corporate governance such as corporate culture, supplier management, lobbying, and digitalization.
The analysis was designed not only to meet regulatory requirements, but also to serve as a strategic management tool. It will be reviewed annually and completely revised every three years in order to promptly take into account new developments, changes in framework conditions, and feedback from stakeholders.
With this analysis, SAERTEX multiCom has taken an important step toward systematically anchoring sustainability in its corporate strategy and reporting transparently on relevant issues.
